New six-book publishing deal for Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan has signed a new six-book publishing deal with Simon & Schuster.

The songwriting legend's new deal will see him release two sequels to his 2004 book Chronicles: Volume One as well as two books based on his XMradio show, Theme Time Radio Hour, reports Crain's New York Business.

Further details about the other two books included in the deal have not been released.

Chronicles: Volume One was the first instalment of Dylan's memoirs, but did not feature much material based on his life in the mid-1960s, when his fame was at its height. (Taken from NME)

The King is Dead is the sixth album by The Decemberists released on Capitol Records on January 18.


The two previous releases of the band were relatively successful: The Crane Wife (2006) ranked 35 in the Billboard 200 and The Hazard of Love (2009) ranked 14.

Joe Henderson is a well known saxophonist for jazz lovers but his name is unfortunately not as famous as John Coltrane, Miles Davis or Dave Brubeck for a more general audience. Therefore it is a great pleasure to announce the reissue of Barcelona. Recorded with Wayne Darling (bass) and Ed Soph (drums) live at Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas on June 2, 1977 and at Trixi Studio, Munich, Germany on November 15, 1978; the cd includes liner notes by Horst Weber.

Dire Straits classic banned in canada

It is completely crazy but it seems to be true.... ( sad but true).


"The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council declares Dire Straits' 'Money For Nothing' unacceptable. 

In 2010, a listener filed a complaint about Newfoundland radio station OZ FM playing the song; specifically about the appearance of the word 'faggot' in the lyrics.

CBC reports that the complaint stated that 'there is absolutely no valid reason for such discriminatory marks [sic] to be played on-air'.

On Wednesday the CBSC issued a ruling saying that airing the song breaches the human rights clauses of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Code of Ethics and Equitable Portrayal Code, as it 'refers to sexual orientation in a derogatory way'.

The song has previously been accused of being sexist (for the line about getting 'chicks for free') and racist (for the line about 'banging on the bongos like a chimpanzee') but neither claims have resulted in a ban." (Taken from music-news).

Showroom of Compassion, released on January 11, 2011, is the name of the sixth full-length studio album from the band Cake. Sick of you is the lead-off single of the album.

Cake's most successfull album is Fashion Nugget released in 1996. The distance is one of the band's biggest hit.
